Originally I was going to start the next story arc today, but it’s been a super-busy week and I haven’t had enough time to completely gather myself. Also, haven’t been able to consult my other half Mervyn as of late, so it makes brainstorming more difficult. We often bounce ideas off each other, which ultimately leads us in the final direction, but it just hasn’t been possible for the past several weeks…
So, I leave you with this concept sketch of our Unemployed Pandas. Well, in reality, it’s our heroes Ninja Panda and Samurai who are still unemployed, but together with Kunoichi and KFu they are such a fun cast. Now that there are more pandas, you can see more sides to each character. (And personally, I’ve always been a fan of ensemble casts…then again, I can’t help that I’m constantly creating characters.)
This sketch is actually a real page in my sketchbook. I scanned it in and filled in the greys in Painter, rather than re-draw it all in Painter. Those of you who know me know how much I abhor scanning (and if you didn’t, now you do), so it was quite a task to force myself into doing it. Earlier this week, I turned on my scanner, but hated it so much that I could only scan in 2 things (even though I had a bunch of things that I should have also scanned in.) But I did have to scan in this particular drawing, as re-drawing it would lose some of the spirit of the original sketch.
Kind of ironic that the most commentary I’ve written in a while comes from this one drawing :) Anyways, enjoy your Friday, and we’ll see what we can cook up for Monday!
