Our first guest comic comes from Bryan Wong of Studio Constancy Roman! In his own words, here’s what’s going on:
- “I wanted to draw the pandas fighting over the fixin’s for pho. I suspect that Kunoichi, because of her penchant for bamboo, would take well to the basil. Ninja likes it hot, so I’d think he’d be going for the chiles first. And Samurai would grab the bean sprouts if he could…since he’s trying to lose those inches on his waist that he gained after being laid off.”
For those of you that are not as well-versed in Asian food culture, pho (pronounced “fuh”, not “foe”) is Vietnamese noodle soop. It is typically a beef-based broth with rice noodles. Thinly-sliced, rare steak is added at the last minute, and it cooks in the hot broth. You can add bean sprouts, peppers, lemon, and various other condiments to spice it up to your taste. Pho can also be made from chicken stock or in vegetarian varieties.
Bryan has been a longtime friend of P.M.B.Q. Studios, supporting our comic endeavors since Tea Club. He’s also a contributor to our Manga Start online drawing program.
Bryan does receive some prizes…we will unveil these later this week :)
